Protopages

Mr. J-Bizzle (aka Josh Benson) just pointed out a neat-o RSS feeder:

Proto Page

At first blush, it seems very flexible -- it's an online RSS feeder, so I assume once an account is created, you can sign on from anywhere and have access to all your feeds you want. I need to play with some more, but it looks like a real nice solution to possible problems of having to check a million sites to get what you want.

Do protopages work anything like the sorting mechanism of Zotero?

Would proptopages be an effective way to gather material with coauthors of grants or books if the co-investiagots were at multiple sites?

Proto page seems to be more "one-user" oriented, and it doesn't appear to be that collaborative (I'm still relatively "young" on this).

I'm not sure this can be leveraged for "static" data -- it would be interesting to use to keep current on trends, though, especially those that are posted to things like blog. In this way, it could be used as research, but as it stands now, it looks like it would be better to use as a way to see the world at a glance, not hone in on a specific aspect of the world.
